Aesop's Politics.

The frogs petition to be ruled by a 'decider'. From Aesop's Fables, this edition from 1947. I don't think Aesop would be much of a Bush backer.

Wallpaper?- updated with Halloween wallpaper!!

I got tired of having distracting wallpaper on my desktop, so I made these 2-3 designs. They purposely use all of the brushes in photoshop that no one ever uses. I just wanted to see how they worked.

The bottom one is a little better suited for your Grandmother, you're thinking. Well, friend, I am using that one right now as I type. I trust you'll not be referring to me as "Grandmotherly", or else I should have to ask you to step outside and test my mettle in a round of fisticuffs!

That settles that.

Update: A new wallpaper I made from a scan of some really attractive American Greetings halloween stickers. I don't own these images and I make no claim on them. These stickers are available now, everywhere handsome American Greetings products are sold.

Check this out and report back in the comments. How do you feel about it? What do you think?

IKEA Dëssck

I bought a great little writing desk at IKEA last week and the honeymoon is nowhere near over. Gosh, I ♥ this thing to pieces. I want/need to do a lot more writing, and I never got around to having a dedicated writing desk or area in my tiny, gloomy dump of an apartment. Changing that makes this whole place more pleasant. I still occasionally wonder if the ceiling light fixture could support my dangling weight, plus the weight of a sturdy hank of rope, but on the whole I feel purty good about the next few months.

The desk is a Flüüürgkle or a Sþlløergkht. I can't remember which. Its got a handsome glass surface that sits a couple of inches above a humble white lacquered fiberboard set up which, like a Wonderbra, serves to support and separate. It splits the storage/display area under the desktop into two large spaces. So useful. Anything you want to put under that glass top is out of the way but unforgettably still there and visible. I put art projects there. The left side has become a catch-all for things like my Ipod, or the remote to the DVD player. There's a wristwatch in there, my metal rulers- there's a lot of room in my Sþlløergkht desk.

This desktop array sits across two identical shelf units, the design of which allows my cat pal Tommy to wander around inside and hang out there if he's in the mood. That takes away some of the grief of having to constantly disappoint the kid by putting him on the floor when he would rather be on the desk or in my chair. He loves it. I guess it's as much cat furniture as it is a desk.

I can't find it on the IKEA website, dangit. Go there and buy one of these. Do it for the economy if you don't want the desk. Just ask for the desk that Tom got, and they'll probably know which one you're talking about. Enjoy!

Serves one.

God Help Me I'm Starting To Like Rosie O'Donnell.

This is from a few weeks ago, I know, but I like it. As a result, my personal Rosie O'Donnell terror alert is being lowered to ORANGE. Lowered to Orange. Orange.

Go about your business in the usual manner.

Fun for all.

Dumb fun is the best fun.
