Roll Over, Rover!

Here's a followup link to the big pet food recall scandal of a couple of weeks back.

Pet Food Manufacturer Can't Explain Deaths.

Sorry I Haven't Been Posting.

Sorry I've been so slow about new posts here. I'll be back on the job soon.

Ooooh Jeez! Bourne Ultimatum Trailer.

The first two of these Jason Bourne thrillers directly influenced the direction James Bond took as a franchise with "Casino Royale". This third film also looks like terrific fun.

My prediction: he will look for- and eventually get- revenge, but it will be bittersweet. People close to him will be threatened, and possibly will be killed. Then Jack Bauer will come and hand out Christmas presents.

I just realized that Jack Bauer, James Bond and Jason Bourne all share the same initials. The same initials as Jack Benny! Coincidence?

The End of LIFE as We Know It.

A typical latter-day LIFE cover.

LIFE magazine- is ceasing publication of its print version, and beginning plans to publish as an on line periodical exclusively. In other shocking news: LIFE magazine was still being published!

Where will we turn for the oversized glossy treatment of disaster stories, offered up with double page shots of people crying over their dead? What other news magazine will care what Brooke Shields is doing, or treat us to another navel-gazing reprint "collector's issue" every other month?

As far as I'm concerned, this relic belongs in a fading memory. It's not unique or relevant in the marketplace, has a creepy editorial agenda, and basically has no reason to exist. This is the fourth time LIFE has closed its doors- can they not take a hint?

Frank On A Monday

The original picture is here on EatLiver.com. I doctored this version for those who know Frank the comic character.

The Frank
™ below is © Jim Woodring. This joke in no way reflects on Frank himself, since Frank's hygiene and bathroom habits are, I'm sure, beyond reproach.
