I have a good digital camera, and I've got to start using it more. That said, I couldn't resist buying a ten dollar Vivitar digital camera that I think might wind up being the new Lomo. Madame W bought one of these for Wee Max a few days ago, and he was having such a good time with it that I had to go to Walgreens and invest in one myself. They're tiny- the size of a Zippo- and they make an elfin chirping sound when you push the commit button. Here are two shots I took to illustrate the some of the camera's possibilities to you.
Here's a shot I took of me, you, and everyone we know. I can see my house from up here.

This illustrates the weird thing that happens in low light- total color desaturation and spooky Lomo graininess. This is great! That's my lab assistant Tommy, by the way.

It comes with a software disc, a USB cord (with its own twist tie for easy storage), a carrying case, instructions, and one knockoff brand AAA battery that you'll want to replace as soon as you can. These would be perfect for small kids and are great for the glove compartment as well.
I almost forgot- you can shoot video with them too! I can only imagine what that's going to look like. Probably like the Pixiecam I always wanted but was never able to track down. I'll see what I can do about posting some video experiments here soon.
