Usavich Cartoons- Recommended!

Each one is only a couple of minutes long. Max Badger tried to turn me onto these little gems a few weeks back, but I kept forgetting to check them out. Cartoon Brew's Amid Amidi posted a piece about them with a link to the site and I found the rest of them on YouTube. They're each only a couple of minutes long, so you're only looking at an hour to check them all out, and you will not be disappointed. My guarantee to you: double your money back if you are not completely satisfied.

Is This the Cloverfield Monster?

This is an image of a toy, purportedly the toy version of the monster from the upcoming movie Cloverfield, which seems to tell the story of a Godzilla-like monster's rampage through the eyes of the citizenry affected. As the watermarking suggests, this shot is from Movieweb.

Here is a great new trailer/scene from Cloverfield, entitled Altercation at Chaui Station.

Them's Fightin' Nerds!

An actual picture of them performing their disagreement live
before a packed house at Chortles in Minneapolis!

This is probably ancient news to anyone who might care about it in the first place, but a revealing and entertaining squabble erupted between David Cross and Patton Oswalt- longtime friends and fellow ubertalents. Patton Oswalt was the voice of Remy the rat in Ratatouille this past year, and David Cross is featured in the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie. The trouble began when Oswalt made a joke about Cross' having taken his Chipmunk job- a role said he would have passed on. It's a little more complicated than that, but the whole melodrama plays out in these links.

The first comment that Oswalt made can be found on his MySpace blog here. The best, most salient part of it is:
"ALVIN AND THE CHIMPMUNKS is a blatant, soulless, money-grab -- the only reason it even got MADE was because there was an family-movie-shaped-hole in the release schedule. Oddly enough, both Brian Posehn and I were offered the part of Ian, the agent. We both threw the script across the room in disgust. David Cross caught it."
Next, Cross threw a jab at Oswalt on his website (which he shares with the brilliant Bob Odenkirk since their Mr. Show days). Here's the link. Part of the juicy part:
"One thing to note here is that we know that they approached at least me, Patton, and Brian. Three non-traditional funny guys who can do something with the part that isn't on the page. I'd say the people involved with the film (at least on the creative end) have pretty good taste. They could have offered the part to Anthony Clark or Jim Breuer or Dat Phan, but then...."
Then, in a letter to Cross and the rest of the world, Patton Oswalt reveals the source of the original joke was none other than... David Cross! His letter of explanation is posted on the Bob and David site too, here.

And so now once again peace reigns in the valley. We can rest easy knowing that none of our children, or our children's children will be drawn into the fray. One day they'll teach the story of this battle in high schools, that is providing our cruel Cola War- fighting atomic gorilla overlords allow it into the curriculum by then.

David Lynch On Watching Movies With Your IPhone

I got this link from Boingboing.net. Most BB comments seem to be made by tech junkies who weigh everything against new technology adapters versus idiots. The comments there are sometimes moronic, and the ones relating to this video are even more so than usual.

Check this one:

While I completely agree with him on most of his point, Mr. Lynch is completely off his rocker (as his movies seem to attest to). People have either already seen your movie and loved it (which is why they are watching it again on their flight to where ever), wouldn't have seen it otherwise (what kind of an artist would want to keep his work from being seen - even in less than ideal circumstances), or they are too stupid to appreciate the movie to begin with.

By the way... using YouTube as a platform to complain about a poor quality video experience seems a little disingenuous.

Here's another:

"David Lynch? His movies suck no matter where you watch them."

And this:

Gee, sorry, David Lynch. I didn't realize I had to spend a 6-hour flight watching the back of a seat so you would feel better about your "art".

The "get real" at the end is incredibly ironic.

Pizdaus.com

I know I posted about the photo sharing website Pizdaus.com a few weeks back, but I can't say enough about it, so I'm posting again. Spend some of your surfing time there, and try to check back often, since new material goes up constantly (anyone in the world can post pictures there).

I found these three today. Pixdaus.
